The
Ontario Cricket Association (OCA) had been looking for the right
person to give a much needed boost to women's Cricket development
for some time. Rita Jethi was discovered during a casual conversation
with the OCA President at an indoor Cricket game in December
2008. He was delighted to know that she was a former national
level Cricket player in India. She also played softball at the
college level. He challenged her to accept the role of spearheading
the Ontario Women's Cricket Development Program. Luckily for
OCA, she accepted and as they say, the rest is history.
In one short month, she put
together a team of volunteers who will assist her in executing
every aspect of the program. A structure is in place for the
growth and proper management of the game. Advertising and promotional
material is now ready and sponsorships are being secured. The
launch date and information/registration function is ready to
be announced and many players and volunteers have been contacted
and are eager to participate.
Rita is a bundle of endless
energy and a source of limitless enthusiasm. The OCA has no doubt
that the Women's Cricket Development Program will be a resounding
success with her at the helm. It is a very tough task for her
but she is very confident that she will rise and meet the challenges.
Rita as a fashion designer
ran a successful business for many years in India under the name
of 'Jethi Selections.' In Canada, she is a successful financial
advisor and Century 21 real estate agent. She has a master's
degree in Political Science and diploma in Public Relations in
addition to her current business-related certifications.
Rita Jethi is also involved
in working for the benefit of the society. She is registered
as a volunteer storyteller with the YMCA. She is also helping
in raising the awareness of the work being done by YMCA in addition
to helping the organization fundraise for their "Strong
Kids Campaign". |
